Certified yoga teacher, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, and Reiki Master: Joy has been teaching for 15 years and offers workshops in joyyoga throughout the US. She brings in-depth knowledge of body mechanics and introduces her students to the notion that there is “nothing to get right” and “everything to discover and explore”.

In this environment, people experience a freedom that seems to enable them to be more comfortable with themselves. They also discover that without even trying, they can do much more that they ever imagined. Joy brings a warm heart and playful wisdom to the gentle art of self- discovery.

Each class includes exploration of yoga poses, breathing techniques, awareness practice and deep relaxation. Class lenghts vary depending on location, please see schedule for more information.

FOR THE 2-HOUR YOGA BEYOND THE POSES CLASSES:

Cost: 8 weeks, one class per week $120.00 - pre-registered
Drop in: $20.00 per class (space permitting)
Make-up: missed classes in other classes taught by Joy

Descriptions:

Joyyoga for Beginners:

For first time yoga students of all ages and abilities. You will be slowly introduced to the basics of yoga postures, body sensing, breathing, relaxation and meditation. Learn to move, stretch, and strengthen the body you have. Bring Yoga mat, blanket and empty stomach to class. Wear clothing that moves with you.

Joyyoga for Every Body:

Deepen and expand your experience of yoga. Take your Asana practice to a new place through body sensing awareness, breath and subtle structural movement. Watch as you body willingly releases deeper into each stretch. Lots of individual attention. Bring Yoga mat, blanket and empty stomach to class.

Yoga: Beyond the Poses

Reconnect to yourself and enrich your own practice in this wonderful opportunity to connect to the essence of yoga.

We will use body sensing, movement and stillness, structural mechanics, breath, the support of gravity, deep relaxation, gazing, mudra, sound and meditation to bring our focus into what we are experiencing, rather than what we are achieving.

What emerges is a new, open relationship with yourself, a recognition that there is nothing to get right, an openness to explore your limitless potential, and an experience of your essential nature as infinite peace and love.

Ideal for those with an understanding of posture who wish to deepen their own practice.

Class Tips:

  • Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you free movement
  • Dress in layers and avoid buttons, zippers, and large jewelry
  • Be able to have bare feet.
  • Come with an empty stomach or eat lightly up to two hours before class.
  • Bring a yoga mat (if you have one), a blanket or large towel and socks.
  • Plan on arriving 10-15 minutes before class is due to start.
  • Tell your teacher about any concerns you have and current injuries.
  • Please no cell phones, beepers or perfumes (some people have allergies).
